Unfortunately, these folks are simply victims of auto company marketing, in conjunction with historically cheap fuel prices in America, and a car-centric transportation infrastructure. Occupants in SUV's are nearly 11% more likely to die in an accident compared to people in passenger cars. The death rate for passengers in SUV's in rollover crashes is three times the rate for passenger cars. Most of these vehicles are less than 65% made in America. Sad but true.
